How to teach Arabic to children

Arabic

Whoever mastered the language of adversity and the language of the Holy Qur’an, mastered the art of rhetoric fluently, self-expression and events, and was able to read the surahs and verses with their correct pronunciation. Whoever learned them in sound ways from childhood, mastered them throughout his life. Whether by the parents or the teacher, he will not succeed much in learning the language, and he will find it difficult, and therefore this will prevent him from mastering it.

The basis of the language is letters and sounds, but what matters in correct teaching is to start from the beginning in sequence and deliberately, so we do not move from one letter to another without mastering the letter that preceded it.

How to teach Arabic to children

There are many ways to teach the Arabic language to children, but before we take any step, attention must be paid to encouraging the child and not intimidating him. Loving something helps in accepting and understanding it quickly, in addition to using reinforcement and reward, which does not go beyond being a beautiful “Sticker” character for cartoon characters. Or drawings that attract the child and give him pleasure, and the matter is not without presenting some games as motivational gifts.

If we want quick and effective results, we must move away from traditional methods such as memorization, reading letters and writing them on a notebook, and asking the child to copy them again. Let us take care of learning the pronunciation first, then resort to learning to write it, and let us give each letter and sound its right and time during education, so what is the use of haste? The series was interrupted from the beginning, and let us remember that playing helps a lot, in increasing the child’s focus and acceptance of learning.

We use the beginning of beautiful cards on which letters are written with a picture of something whose name begins with the intended letter, either it is available in libraries or the teacher is creative, by writing it and adding the picture to it, then we start with the first letter A “a”, so we ask the children, for example: “a small animal that eats Carrot and it has long ears, so what is its name?” They will answer if they know – and if they do not know we help them – that it is: Rabbit. And we listen to them one by one, without discriminating or neutralizing one of them, and we take the initiative to ask them again: Are you able to pronounce his name carefully? We also help them in that, and we ask them again: How do we pronounce the first? And we help them and show them the movement of the mouth when pronouncing, and we ask another question, do you know that what we said now is called Alef, then we show them the card, and here we use the visual image to imprint in their minds, so the sight of Alef is associated with the rabbit.

But the matter is not over yet, as it takes at least forty minutes, then we bring a ball and invite the children to play, and encourage them to win. The teacher should throw the ball to the child and ask him about the name of a girl or boy that begins with the letter A, and if he knows, he throws it in turn to another child and must Helping him to know and avoid trying to prove a case of failure for him, and noting that it will be difficult for them at first, but with some help by coming up with names without letting them know that, with encouragement with every name mentioned by the child.

Note: We choose questions related to the names of girls and boys, because it is easier than choosing the name of a fruit, vegetable or color, especially those who are five years old, as not all of them know the names of things, so we resort to choosing the names of girls and boys, especially since they have a sufficient stock of the names of their relatives We use the same method with the other letters, but we must try to link each letter after learning it by the children, with the previous letters, to remind them of it over and over again, and so that they can form words.

There are other ways and methods to teach children the Arabic language, and every teacher should be creative by choosing his own method. For example, it is possible to use puppet theater, especially if the child loves the puppet characters, and ask them questions related to the previous method through the puppets themselves. Education needs a lot of patience, giving, and creativity, so that we can get results that last a lifetime, so that when children grow up, the experience will be passed on to their children, and the first teacher’s giving will extend to several generations.
