Some mothers seek to decorate the hair of their young daughters with the most beautiful forms of hair ornaments and ties, and many of them have been able to make large groups of hair ties by hand using simple raw materials that are available in every home and at much lower costs than what they are in the market.
How to make elastic hair ties
materials needed
- Thin and durable rubber roll.
- a pair of scissors.
- Thread and needle.
- Colorful pieces of fabric.
- Safety pin.
Steps
- The pieces of fabric are cut in the form of rectangles 5 cm wide and 15 cm long, then the longitudinal sides of each rectangle are folded towards each other and sewn together tightly, then they are turned over so that the filling is towards the inside.
- The thin rubber roll is cut into several pieces with a length of not less than 7 cm, and a number equal to the number of pieces of fabric produced from the previous step.
- Fix one end of the thin rubber with the safety pin and close the pin well, then insert the safety pin with the rubber from one side of the piece of cloth until the pin comes out from the other side, with the liberated end of the thin rubber remaining outside the first side of the piece of cloth.
- The two ends of the thin rubber band are connected to each other by the tightness of the connection, and thus the shape of the resulting rubber hair band can be observed.
- Sew the two ends of the cloth together, with the filling facing inward.
- The elastic band can be decorated by adding beads or roses to it.
How to make braided hair ties
materials needed
- Discarded pieces of fabric, preferably using cheesecloth in any available color.
- a pair of scissors.
- Needle and thread in a similar color as the piece of fabric.
Steps
- The piece of cloth shall be cut into three and five longitudinal parts, so that none of them shall be less than 30 cm in length and 3 cm in width.
- The longitudinal parts are arranged on top of each other and sewn from the upper end neatly so that none of them escape from the rest of the group.
- The longitudinal parts are gently pulled down to obtain a cylindrical shape for each of them.
- The five longitudinal parts are divided into two groups, so that the first group contains two of them, while the third group contains three of them.
- * The previous two groups are braided in an overlapping manner with each other until they form a neatly symmetrical braid, while continuing to braid until reaching its lower end.
- The remaining lower limbs are gathered on top of each other and sutured together, in order to preserve the shape of the pannus and prevent its corruption.
- The tie is attached to the hair at the top of the head, then pulled towards the bottom of the head and tied at the back.
