Ramadan lanterns are made in many ways, a number of which will be discussed in this article:

Method 1

A medium-sized wooden net lantern can be made by following the steps as follows:

Necessary tools

Three pine wood bases for the upper part, the first base measuring 20 x 20 centimetres, the second base measuring 10 x 10 centimetres, and the third base measuring 6 x 6 centimetres.
Four pieces of pine wood for the longitudinal side posts, measuring 3.2 x 3.2 x 30 centimetres.
Four pieces of pine wood measuring 3.2 x 3.2 x 3 centimetres.
Eight intersecting pieces measuring 4.4 x 12 centimetres.
A package of waterproof wood glue.
Thin rough drilling screws, 3.2 cm long.
A bottle of paint in the desired color.

The method of work

Prepare the wooden pieces for assembly by cutting all the wood pieces to the required measurements.
Smooth the edges after cutting them using sandpaper.
Wipe the wood pieces with a cloth.
Paint the wood pieces with the desired paint color using a brush.
Leave the wood pieces to dry completely after painting.
Assemble the side pieces together using glue and thin nails.
Glue all cross sections using thin nails and wood glue.
Glue the front and back edges to the wooden piston, and add the side cross pieces in the same way. If the piston is not available, a screwdriver can be used to hold the pieces in place.
Assemble the pieces of the upper part in a pyramidal or circular shape according to the desired shape of the lantern, then secure them with glue, and then with a press.

Cut a 8.25cm square piece for the clutch-holder lantern head.
Cut four pieces measuring 2.54 x 2.54 centimeters for the feet.

Sand all wood pieces with sandpaper after you finish cutting them.
Glue the four side bases to the wood base using wood glue and a metal nail gun.

Fill any gaps or holes in the wood with wood putty, and leave it until it dries completely.
Sand the wood seriously with sandpaper.

Sand the lantern well again after the paint dries completely, but care must be taken to preserve the paint in this step.
Glue the metal handle to the top of the lantern using wood glue.

To make a simple and decorative wooden lantern, you can follow the following steps:

The method of work

Choose a design to decorate the lantern. You can draw the desired pattern on paper, or choose a ready-made design from the Internet.
Print the decorative design on four sheets of paper, sized to fit the wood.
Mark four equal square pieces of 12cm length on the piece of wood using a tape measure and a pencil.
Cut the piece of wood into four identical pieces using a table saw or circular saw.
Clean the wood from sawdust after cutting it using a dry cloth.
Completely cover the pieces of wood on one side with tape, applying one strip at a time.
Turn the wood pieces over to the other side, then trim the excess edges of the tape using a knife or scissors.
Cover the tape with a thin layer of glue or adhesive spray.
Place the paper on which the design was drawn over the layer of adhesive glue, while smoothing the surface of the paper by hand so that it adheres to the wood without bubbles appearing.
Repeat gluing the design papers over the four wooden pieces in the same way.
Wait until the glue dries completely on the four pieces of wood.
Place clear tape over the design paper to secure it to the wood.
Make holes in the open areas to be removed from the design drawn on paper using an electric drill. This is to facilitate the entry of the electric saw needle into it to unload the wood according to the desired shape.
Repeat the process everywhere the saw will unload wood.
Install a thin blade in the miter saw to make it easier to pass it between the design lines on the wood.
Passing the blade along the borders of the drawing to hollow out the wood and obtain the desired decoration.
Change the saw blade if its performance in cutting wood pieces decreases as required.
Cut out the interior of the design mounted on the four pieces of wood.
Remove paper and tape from wood pieces.
Sand the engraved piece of wood from both sides, and repeat the process with the rest of the wood pieces, making sure to sand the folds and tight curves in the drawing.
Create an arc or semi-circle shape at the bottom of each piece of wood using a pencil, making sure that the arc is exactly in the middle of the piece of wood.
Cut an arc shape from the outside edge of the wood pieces with a hacksaw.
Install the prepared lantern pieces using wood glue and a cordless nail gun, by distributing the glue along the sides of the lantern, pressing them to ensure they stick together, and ensuring that there are no overlapping nails in them.
Paint the lantern with the desired paint, or leave it in its natural color.
Place any type of candle inside the lantern.
