How is clay made?

Clay making steps

Clay can be made by following these steps:

  • Bring the clay and then put it until it dries completely.
  • Pouring water over the clay to the fullness, and it is not preferable to stir it at all, because stirring the mixture causes closure of the pores of the clay, and prevents its saturation with water.
  • Stir it until it becomes sticky, and water is added if needed.
  • The mixture is poured onto a lattice window.
  • Check the mixture and remove all sediment such as stones, roots, rubbish and excess water.
  • Putting the filtered mud mixture on dry, water-permeable surfaces, where denim or dry plaster can be used.
  • Use a fan if you want the clay to dry faster.
  • When the clay is sufficiently dry, it is rolled up into large bow shapes, and stored in plastic containers, where it can be stored long term, or used within 24 hours or less.

Re-treatment of dry slurry

Dry mud can be reprocessed by following the following steps:

  • Put the dry clay blocks in large cans, and then add water, so that the clay becomes completely under the water.
  • Leave the mixture for days, and it is preferable not to stir the mud at all.
  • Within days the mud will become a sticky substance.
  • Dry the slurry out of the water.
  • The clay is spread on dry, water-permeable surfaces, left to dry, and then used.
  • When the clay is sufficiently dry, it is rolled up into large bow shapes, and stored in plastic containers, where it can be stored long term, or used within 24 hours or less.
