Delete files on Windows devices

When a user deletes a file on a Windows computer, only the information about the location of the file on the hard disk is erased and is not actually removed, as the files remain on the hard disk even after the Recycle Bin is emptied. There are some applications that can be used to delete files permanently. Final and does not allow it to be reviewed later, such as DeleteOnClick, File Shredder, and File Shredder.

DeleteOnClick

The DeleteOnClick application permanently deletes files from the computer. This process is done securely. Several files and folders can be deleted at the same time. To use it, you must follow the following steps:

• Download the program and save it on your hard drive, then double-click on the downloaded file to start installing the application, and then follow the instructions to complete its installation.
• Installing the program requires at least 2 MB of hard disk space, and after installation is complete, a new option is added to the menu that appears by right-clicking on any file on the computer.
• You must open the folder containing the file that the user wants to delete, then right-click on the file and choose Securely Delete from the menu that appears.
• Clicking Yes to complete the final deletion process, the application then overwrites the program three times using random software and writing algorithms making data recovery impossible, and the process may take more than a minute for files larger than 500 MB.

File Shredder

After installing the File Shredder program, you must open it by double-clicking on it, then follow the following steps to complete the deletion of files:

• Choose to add files (Add Files) if the user wants to delete an individual file, or add a folder (Add Folder) if the user wants to delete an entire folder.
• Select the file that the user wants to delete permanently and click the Open button to add it to the waiting list in the program. Several files can be selected by pressing the Ctrl button and selecting the items to be deleted. To select all files in the folder, you must press Ctrl-A.
• To remove any files from the queue, you must select them and then click the Remove Selected button in the right pane. You can remove all files together by clicking Remove All.
• To permanently delete all files in the queue, you must click on the (Shred Files Now) button, then click OK to confirm. The process takes less than a minute for small files, and may take approximately five minutes if the files are large.
• Windows overwrites new files over deleted ones in time, after which they become unrecoverable.

Delete files on Mac

In order to permanently delete files on computers running the Mac system, the files must be deleted first by dragging them to the trash, then going to the Finder option and clicking on the Secure Empty Trash option, and the files will be permanently deleted. By performing these steps, you can also safely delete hard disk files through the Disk Utility feature, where you open the application and then choose Erase, then click on Security Options. There is another way to delete files on Mac computers using The FileShredder application, which is installed on the device for $3.99, overwrites files until they are made unreadable again.

Delete files from iPhone

To delete files from your iPhone permanently, you can use the iPhone Data Wiper application, which provides four options to erase all deleted data without the possibility of recovering it through any programs, in addition to the ability to delete text messages, photos, contacts, call history, and any other data on the iPhone. The user's phone, and to perform the deletion process, you must follow the following steps:

• Install the application on the computer from the special website for that, and then click on the downloaded EXE file to start the installation process. Instructions will appear to help the user complete the installation process, then the application opens automatically after completing its installation and a shortcut to it is displayed on the computer desktop.
• Connect the iPhone to the computer via a USB cable, and the program automatically detects the device once it is well connected to the computer.
• The program offers four options for deleting files: delete all files (ERASE ALL DATA), delete files from the trash (ERASE DELETED FILES), delete specific files (ERASE PRIVATE DATA), and free up part of the space (1-Click Free UP Space). The user chooses the command that suits the deletion process he desires.
• Analyze and scan all deleted files on the iPhone. This takes a few minutes depending on the size of the files on it. After scanning, the files must be selected for which the user wants to view detailed information.
• After scanning, all file data will be displayed and their details will be displayed. By default, the program selects all files for deletion, and the user must deselect the files that he wishes to keep.
• To perform the data deletion process, you must select the Erasing Algorithm, then start erasing everything on the iPhone.
• Choose Delete and click the Start button to confirm the deletion process. After that, the program starts deleting the files, and it takes a few minutes to complete the task.
• Erase all data again from iPhone by selecting and deleting all data.
