Summing up a story that made me stay up all night

It tells the story of (I woke up the nights) by (Ali Al-Dawaji), about the life of a woman who suffers from illiteracy, who married against her will to a man who abuses drunkenness and orgies, as this wife suffers from her husband’s sharp tongue as well, as he utters all the ugly words and vulgar words, and calls her the most horrible Attributes, for her and her children, her aunt used to visit her, to tell her about what was bothering her, and she wept in her hands, so she complained to her about her condition and her living with a man towards whom she feels all kinds of hatred, and at the same time he hates even his children, in addition to his wife, and they live with him the worst life, not to mention extreme poverty Those who live under its shadow, in an atmosphere of gloom and gloomy blackness, which hangs over the life of this family.

This aunt was the one who stood by her niece, and she is an example of the popular Tunisian woman, who has a strong and sober personality. This aunt finds that her niece’s divorce from this man whose life is unbearable in his shadow is the best solution for her salvation from her miserable and dirty life. And with a lot of screaming and angry reactions, she started shouting at the top of her voice, and in a hysterical emotional state, because of the severity of her impact, so that this woman / wife asked her aunt, and as a kind of harsh warning, to lower her voice, because her husband is asleep and she cannot bear to disturb him in his sleep.

Let this woman appear as an example for the eastern woman, who suffers from what she suffers from hatred, and perhaps persecution in her home, and a gloomy and straitened life, yet she watches over her husband’s comfort, indifferent to herself, despite what this wife was deprived of of affection, love, respect, and security from her husband in her home. It remains for me to point out that the story (I woke up at night) is the title of a story by the Tunisian writer Ali Al-Dawaji. There is a lot of depth and creativity, as criticism of the traditional life that society lives in, in light of the lack of awareness and perhaps illiteracy, which was a result of the country's colonization for long periods.
