It is a holocaust that occurred in the year 525 AD at the hands of King Dhu Nuwas, the king of Yemen, whose name is Zaraa bin Taban Asaad Abu Karb, the last king of Himyar who forced the people of Najran wanted to leave their religion, but they refused, so this king ordered to dig a great groove in the ground and set fire to it.

The city of Al-Ukhdood is one of the richest archaeological sites, as it contains inscriptions and writings on stones and rocks on which inscriptions were written with their own letters, and rocks inscribed with types of animals that were widespread in those times, such as horses, camels, and snakes, and there are also still the remains of those who were burned in that period. There is an ancient mountain, which is Tasalal, which is located east of the Najran region, and on which the Kaaba of Tasalal was built.

The story of the people of the groove is one of the very famous stories to this day, and this story is still written by writers, authors, and narrators, and it happened before the arrival and spread of Islam, and its people were believers who did not submit to the orders of this king who tried to force them to leave their religion or else he would kill them, but they They preferred to be killed and burned to death rather than abandon their religion, and they remained committed to their religion, principles, and belief. After Islam came down and spread, they converted to Islam and believed in it.
