Floya Mountain

The “Fjellheisen” cable car is a true icon of Tromsø dating back to 1961.

It is loved by both locals and tourists. It is one of the first things that tourists go to when visiting this Norwegian city.

From the top of the mountain you get a great view of Tromso and the beautiful surroundings of mountains and fjords

And in the back you can see Kvaloya which is one of the biggest islands in Norway.

And it's magical to watch the northern lights that dance over the city in winter

Or seeing the midnight sun shining in the sea around Tromsø in the summer.

So it is a great place to visit all year round. But be sure to bring warm clothes and windbreakers as it gets chilly up there even in the summer months.

And there is a wonderful cafe and restaurant at the top where you can buy all you want from hot drinks such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cakes, Norwegian pancakes and ice cream in addition to a snack.

Arctic Cathedral

The Arctic Cathedral, or Ishavkatedralen in Norwegian, is a real landmark in Tromso. You will find this cathedral on every postcard of the city. It was built in 1965 and designed by the famous Norwegian architect Jan Inge Hovig.

The cathedral takes the shape of an iceberg and in front there are stunning glass mosaics that sparkle with incredible colors when the sun shines through. And some say that the shape of the cathedral was inspired by a small island in Norway.

You can easily see the Arctic Cathedral, or as some call it the Arctic Cathedral, from the center of Tromsen Wall, but if you want to see the mosaics in its design, you should head to the Tromso Bridge and enter the church. It's an easy walk with a beautiful view of the harbor.

During the summer, from June 15 to August 9, there are church concerts every day at 12:11 pm, as well as midnight concerts at XNUMX:XNUMX am. In the winter, from February XNUMX to March XNUMX, there are similar concerts called Northern Lights concerts in the church at XNUMX pm from Thursday to Sunday every week. These concerts are a great way to see the church better.

A visit to the Arctic Cathedral is ideal for everyone, as you can, for example, take a cable car ride first and admire Mount Floya, then head down for a midnight party under the sun and watch the Northern Lights.

Polaria Aquarium

Polaria is a kind of museum but also much more than that. It is a combination of an experience center and an aquarium where you can learn about the nature and animals of the Arctic, including watching many beautiful films such as those on the Northern Lights.

The highlight of the Polaria Aquarium is very important, as it provides great fun for children and adults as well. This gallery contains large ponds with many Arctic fish of all kinds such as crabs, cod, Atlantic wolffish and other unique species.

And right next to the Polaria Gallery is a fishing ship covered in a glass shelter, and there you can tour the ship and learn about how to live the life of a fisherman in Norway.

On your way out there is a lovely gift shop where they sell handcrafted local products made from sealskin, reindeer bones, wood and other local things that you can buy as a souvenir of your visit to Tromso. They also have a cafeteria open everyday for you to enjoy sitting in and watching the exhibition up close.
