Subzero man

The novel “Man Below Zero” by the Egyptian writer, philosopher and physician Mustafa Mahmoud (born on December 27, 1921 AD - and died on October 31, 2009 AD), is one of the masterpieces of science fiction fiction that he wrote in the year 1966 AD, and won the State Prize in 1970 AD. The novel was published by Dar Al Maaref in 98 pages in more than 6 editions. The events of the novel jump to a future time consisting of fractions of a second, so that the writer, with his imagination, exceeds the limits of the time we know, so geographical borders are canceled, and the features of places and people change, to the point of similar templates, where He takes us with his vast imagination to the year 2067 AD, monitoring the rapid scientific development to live a unique scientific experience that lists the achievements achieved by humanity throughout the ages. Loaded with amazing discoveries, including the author’s recounts: the possibility of the fetus growing far from the mother’s womb in a jar until the time of birth arrives, the use of air transportation such as missiles, missiles, satellites, automatic traffic lights suspended in the air, and many others. The novel begins in Cairo, on the morning of Saturday the first of January of the year 2067 AD, on board a space rocket - the means of transportation at that time - heading from Cairo to London, where the Egyptian doctor “Shaheen” meets the Iraqi engineer “Abdul Karim” on board the rocket in two seats opposite each other. After a minute and ten seconds, they arrive in London. They separate and bid farewell, and Dr. Shaheen goes to give a lecture at the university to about one hundred thousand students, which is a historical lesson summarizing all the events in about a hundred years, from the middle of the twentieth century until the year 1999. Dr. Shaheen narrates to his students the events of World War III that occurred in 89 between America and Russia. And about a plague-like disease that kills people there, Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud - may God have mercy on him - predicts in his novel scientific inventions and events in the world in a beautiful narrative manner, and in it he discusses philosophical questions and interesting ideas about human freedom and human independence in himself and in science away from faith and religions in a very neutral way. The summary of the novel is that the writer wants to bring us to the truth that “as man develops his desire for science, research, and discovery,” he turns away from (God), his Creator. This is what the conclusion of the novel revealed when the writer said at the end: “O Master of the Universe, O Inhabitant of the Unseen, O Inhabitant of the Darkness of the Future, when will you come out and tell them to look for a moment inside their souls, instead of looking through their binoculars, at the maze of space?” He says in another place, “I now see with certainty that God exists, but rather He is the only truth that has escaped us all due to the arrogance of material progress, and I have no hope of salvation...except with forgiveness.” Since he resorted to writing, authoring, and publishing, the writer Mustafa Mahmoud has written 400 books in various fields of knowledge, including: scientific, religious, philosophical, social, and political books, tales, plays, and travel stories, in addition to about XNUMX episodes of his famous television program, “Science and Faith.”
