Good brevity makes sense

The best words are those that are short and meaningful, and they derive their correct meaning from the Almighty’s saying: “And when We bestow blessings upon man, he turns away and distances himself from his side, and when evil touches him, then he is of great supplication,” Surah Fusilat, verse 51.

I will not be too long for you because I am giving today the brief and simple meaning with a clear and great meaning and significance, and this saying is equivalent to the popular proverb: If speech is silver, then silence is gold.

This aforementioned proverb and wisdom was based on many instances in which people prolong their conversations to no avail, and it was also used in giving advice to children and teaching them the principles of rhetoric and sobriety.

Nowadays, it has become like a saying that is said in councils and meetings, but it is rarely implemented. We find that the person does not know his friend well and talks to him a lot and asks him more. This is a wrong approach, as everyone has privacy and others have limits.

But if we shed light on our modern Arab society, we would find that it exists, but its emergence is prevented by many reasons, including:

The spread of modern technology in the current era. In our time, people get to know and communicate on social networking sites, e-mail, and chat sites that were not apparent in that era. We now do not ask or care about the people who sit and wait for friends and neighbors to meet in the garden of the house. Rather, we have a kind of great disintegration in society, and this is not because of technology, but because of the wrong use of technology.

We go back to our wisdom that if a person wants to speak, he should know the meaning of his speech, its purpose, and its limits so that he does not disturb or be disturbed. I remember a short scene that happened with my grandmother, saying it from her experience in life, and she advises one of her granddaughters, saying: “If you want to speak, then weigh your words with a scale. If they are heavy and valuable, then speak.” And if it is weak and has no meaning, then leave it, for it is of no use.” Thus is the saying: “We must say the words that indicate its meaning without shortening or prolonging it. Rather, we give it its due due, so that it is not long and becomes bored, and it is not short, so he is ignorant and does not understand its meaning.”

In the end, I promised you that I would not be long for you. I advise you to weigh your words because they express the sobriety and soundness of your mind. And you, my beloved ones, must employ good words in selected sentences. On the authority of Abu Hurairah - may God be pleased with him - he said: The Messenger of God - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - said: “A good word is charity. The hadith is agreed upon.

And God Almighty said: “It was because of the mercy of God that you were kind to them, and if you had been rude and hard-hearted, they would have dispersed from around you.” This is the evidence of the Qur’an and Sunnah in confirming sound and correct speech that must be followed, so I recommend it to you and to apply the verses of God Almighty and glorify them so that they reach everyone and the benefit is widespread.

We will not talk much, as we said, but the words we mentioned are not ignorant words, but they have a purpose and benefit. Perhaps a few words will achieve the desired goal more than many words.
