The Egyptian Islamic writer and thinker Muhammad al-Ghazali is the author of the book Renew Your Life as an extension of Neil Carnegie’s book “Leave Worrying and Start Living.” Al-Ghazali was known for his call to Islamic thought in the modern era and his opposition to extremism and extremism in religion, and his writings are of a sober and distinguished literary nature.

Muhammad al-Ghazali

Birth

Muhammad al-Ghazali was born in the year (1335 AH, 1917 AD), in the village of Nakla al-Anab, Itay al-Baroud, and the Buhaira governorate in Egypt. His family was religious, which made him memorize the Noble Qur’an from a young age. Where he did not exceed ten, and he had five brothers, and in elementary school he joined the Alexandria religious primary institute, and continued in the institute until he obtained the certificate of competence and the Azhar secondary certificate, then he joined the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion in Al-Azhar in Cairo, and his writings began in the magazine of the Muslim Brotherhood, and encouraged him to Writing Hassan Al-Banna, the founder of the group, and after graduating, he specialized in advocacy and guidance, after which he obtained internationalism, and he was twenty-six years old, and from here began his journey with the call, and he was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Al-Ghazali traveled to Algeria, studied there, and won many awards during that period. He was also among those arrested after the dissolution of the Brotherhood in 1984 AD, after which a dispute occurred between him and Hassan al-Hudhaibi, the group’s guide after 1952 AD, and he separated from the group. In the year 1391 AH 1971 AD, he was seconded to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and worked as a professor at Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and taught at the College of Sharia in Qatar, then he was appointed Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf in Egypt in 1981 AD.

Death

Al-Ghazali died on Shawwal 20, 1416 AH, corresponding to March 9, 1996 CE, in Saudi Arabia. Where he was participating in a conference on Islam and the challenges of the era organized by the National Guard in its annual cultural events known as (The National Festival for Heritage and Culture - Janadriyah), and was buried in Al-Baqi cemetery in Medina, as he had stated before his death his wish to be buried in Al-Baqi cemetery.
