About Tawfiq Al-Hakim

He is Hussein Tawfiq Ismail Ahmed al-Hakim, an Egyptian novelist, storyteller, and playwright. He studied at al-Kuttab schools located in the villages of the Nile Delta, where he studied at Muhammad Ali School, then Damanhour Elementary School, then moved to Alexandria to study at the secondary level. He obtained a law degree from a law school in Cairo, then moved to Paris to complete his studies in the same specialty, but he returned before completing his doctorate. Tawfiq al-Hakim was born in Alexandria in 1898 AD, and it was said in 1897 AD, and it was said in 1902 AD, and he died on the twenty-seventh of July of the year 1987 AD.

Characteristics of Tawfiq al-Hakim's work

His works were characterized by smooth language, and their diversity in the fields of play and novel, and spread very widely, and his works reached thirty-one plays, twelve novels, and about thirty authors in articles and research collected in books, and despite the abundant production of Tawfiq al-Hakim, the number of his plays that It could be represented on the stage was very few; Most of them were written to be read, not to be acted upon.

The Sun of Thought book

In his book Under the Sun of Thought, published by the Library of Egypt, Tawfiq al-Hakim talks about many topics, including: the doctrine of faith, the defense of Islam, women in the youth of the Prophet, the essence of religion, literature, art and culture, criticism, God’s style in his creation, the purpose of literature and art, and art. And reform, oriental culture, the mass of the oriental spirit, the revival of ancient Arab culture, women and their thorns, and women and greatness.

It is issued by Dar Misr for Printing, in which Tawfiq al-Hakim spoke about Arabic literature, the relationship of literature with art, science, civilization, theatre, journalism and cinema, the problems of literature and literature and its generations, and literature and its commitments.

  • Zaki Mubarak mentioned that Tawfiq al-Hakim is a writer by nature, but he needs the tools of a writer. He was not created except in the book A Bird from the East. This is because - in this book - he wrote as a human being, not as a famous writer.
  • Charles Bourdon stated that the value of the Egyptian novel (The Return of the Spirit) lies in the fact that it expressed the returns and spirit of Egypt, as well as in the difference between the apparent weakness of the farmer and the hidden strength of his spirit.
  • Marc de la Forge mentioned that al-Hakim is one of the greatest writers in the Arab world, and that his novel (The Return of the Spirit) includes many real foundations.
