Friendship is one of the most important requirements of life and the greatest necessity for man.
The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, his family, and his companions, said: “The best of you are those with the best morals, those who get along well and are in harmony.”
He said: “No servant who introduces a brother to God will earn him a rank in Paradise.”
He said: “The friendliness of a believer to a believer in God is the greatest of the people of faith, except that whoever loves for the sake of God, hates for the sake of God, gives for the sake of God, and withholds for the sake of God, is among God’s pure ones.”
He also said: “Whoever befriends a brother for the sake of God, God will raise him to a degree in Paradise that he will not attain through any of his deeds.”
The more a friend has a love and affection for his friend, the greater his status with God Almighty, as the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, his family, and his companions, said: “Shall I not tell you who is most similar to me in character? They said, “Yes, O Messenger of God.” He said: “The best of you in character, the greatest of forbearance, the most virtuous of you toward his relatives, the most passionate of you in love for his brothers in his Lord, the most patient of you with the truth, the most restrained of anger, the best of you in pardon, and the most fair of you to himself.”
The importance of a friend in life:
Nothing in life makes a person more happy and pleased than acquiring a good friend who shares his feelings, indulges him in his emotions, comforts him in times of loneliness, and seeks his help in times of adversity. So much so that one of the famous Western scholars, Lord Avebury, said in his book “Happiness and Peace: Making a true friend is not easy, and whoever can do it is possible.” If he does that, let him know that he has won a valuable treasure that he should do well.
