The Islamic side appeared in Ahmed Shawky's poetry in many of his poems, as he used to write single verses to emphasize the importance of prayer. He also wrote about the Hajj and drew wonderful artistic images in it. His praises were not only limited to the religious side, but also included the political side, given that the Messenger, peace be upon him, is the representative of religion and the world, so his poems were filled with judgment and sermons.

Among the most famous of what Ahmed Shawky wrote in Islamic studies is his poem Al-Burda, which he wrote in the style of the poem of Al-Busiri, the ancient Islamic poet, as the highest signs of love and praise for the Holy Prophet were manifested in it, and the two poets agreed on the purposes of the poem, including the unity of the subject.

Ahmed Shawky was famous for his poetry compositions for national and social occasions, and he devoted many poems to religious poetry, including: Al-Hamziya Al-Nabawiyyah and Nahj Al-Burda. He also wrote many plays, including: Majnoon Layla, Al-Bakhila, and The Death of Cleopatra, and among the novels he wrote: The Virgin of India, and The Last Pharaoh. As for his poetry, he collected it in the Diwan al-Shawqiyyat, which consists of four parts.

Introducing Ahmed Shawky

He is Ahmed bin Ali bin Ahmed Shawky, nicknamed the Prince of Poets, and he is one of the most famous poets of the modern era. He was born in Cairo and educated in government schools. He also studied two years in the translation department before the Khedive sent him to France, so he studied there at the Faculty of Law. Ahmed Shawky was not an Egyptian poet. Only, but he was a poet of Arabs and Muslims. He was distinguished by his duality between the love of life and its pleasures, his deep faith and his bliss, as he is a poet of wisdom and sound Arabic language, as he was also distinguished by his independent and unique personality.
