How do I deal with my child

How do you teach your child to speak?

baby care

The child needs special care from the moments of his birth in succession to the early stages of his life, as the first years of his life form the first building block in establishing his personality. It makes him realize little by little the things that surround him, starting with suggestions, and then learning the language, even if it is very simplified for him.

The age of speech in a child

Children begin to learn the language after the age of one year, and at the age of two years, the child has many words that he can pronounce, and they range in most cases to four hundred words, and his chances of pronouncing other words increase to reach a thousand words in the third year, despite this matter, we cannot make it a rule for all Children, the matter is considered relatively among them, and the matter may differ from one child to another. Children who are late in speaking are usually preoccupied with playing and physical movements that they express themselves with, such as somersaults, jumping, playing, climbing, etc. As for children who start learning to speak early, they usually postpone physical movements until the advanced years of their age. However, there is another reason that may delay the beginning of the child's utterance of some words because of his lack of communication with children of his age. Children meeting with each other, playing together and talking to them may encourage the child to speak early and increase his courage.

Steps to teach your child to speak

The mother should always practice some steps with her child to encourage him to speak and learn many simple words, and these steps include the following:

  • You have to talk to the child from birth as if he is a person who distinguishes speech, as if you say to him some words, do you want milk? Or do you feel sleepy? And you start by introducing him to some of the things that surround him, even if the child does not respond to any of the mother’s dialogue, but this matter strengthens his personality and makes him gradually enjoy hearing and understanding the words until they seem familiar to him and he gradually understands them.
  • In spare time, you can talk to your child about many things, such as the weather, or tell him about his father that he is outside, works, and spends most of the time outside the house, and other things. In time, you will notice that he wants to speak and imitate, even if his words are simple and incomprehensible.
  • Introduce the child to the things that are around him, such as telling him this is a refrigerator, this is a bed, this is milk, and this is a television. Repeat the word, and with time the child will memorize it and repeat it.
  • I do not like the idea of abbreviating words for children, such as (Nana) denoting food, (Waba) denoting the word Baba, so your child will get used to it and will still not realize what the original pronunciation of the word was.
  • Let your child listen to some songs for children, as they will inevitably attract his attention, and he will focus on their melodious words, memorize some words, and try to repeat them.
  • At night, read a short story to your child, and it is better that it be an illustrated story, to increase the child's suspense and love for literature, increase his mental awareness, expand his sensory imagination, and encourage him to pronounce and speak, even if he does not realize what the content of the story is, because the child feels, feels, and needs some time to be alone. It is not erased in his imagination, even if he grows up.
  • Give your child the freedom to express himself and listen to him carefully, even if you do not understand half of his words, but he feels interest and desire to speak. Ask him some questions and leave him the freedom of expression and express his desires as if he wants food or not? Or does he want to take a walk? And other such things.
  • Bring your child special books to teach children that contain some pictures and introduce him to the external environment, such as animals and their shapes, and learn numbers and colors.
  • Children usually love to hear strange sounds such as the sound of the air or the sound of running water, or the sound of birds, or even the sound of a loud radio. All of these things draw his attention quickly. All you have to do is name the sounds and pronounce them to him to expand his sensory and linguistic perceptions.
  • Put some illustrated posters on the walls of your child's room, in bright and beautiful colors, such as flowers, or an airplane, or pictures of some animals, and try to introduce him to each picture and its correct pronunciation, and imitate some sounds in front of him, such as the sound of an airplane or a cat, and so on, if your child does not respond from the first Once, I am completely sure that he will master the pronunciation in the coming times, and that what he hears from you will be stored in his mind.
  • Read to your child some of the small chapters of the Qur’an and recite them in front of him carefully and contemplatively. You can also open some chapters for him to hear from time to time, as this makes him understand the correct language and strengthen his perceptions, and he does not find it difficult to learn it when going through the coming years of his life.
  • Leave space for your child to walk and mix with society with those of his age to play with sand, cubes or ball, as this matter strengthens his personality and he learns from his peers to pronounce some words.
  • Reward your child with some words when he does something good by saying thank you, or this is good, or you are smart, and such positive words that always increase the child's desire to learn more, as well as teach him about physical gestures such as shaking the finger as a sign of not denying something or applauding for him as a reward for him.
  • Do not scold your child and try to dialogue with him always and tell him that this thing is not good and he does not prefer to repeat it again. This method will free the child from his stubbornness and will make him an understanding person who responds through dialogue and discussion.
  • Never interrupt your child while he is speaking, and listen to him with interest and do not try to stop him, whatever his opinion may be. This will encourage him to speak and make him speak with absolute freedom.
  • Bring your child some colored drawing papers and some safe colors such as pastels, wood or pencils, as they will definitely attract him. Tell him I want to teach you to draw a flower, a cat, or a cloud, and color it. Always start establishing your child before entering kindergarten or school. For example, bring some papers and start teaching him the letters, if they are in Arabic or English, as well as the numbers, while writing them, coloring them, and pronouncing them over and over again in front of him until he masters their pronunciation.
  • Always try not to follow the method of indoctrination with your child, as it is a method that puts information in the child's mind without realizing what it is. Adopt a simplified method of explanation with him, discuss and dialogue with him until all his perceptions expand, and this matter increases the child's intelligence and increases his creativity.

Conclusion

Finally, the world of childhood is very wide and diving into it is like diving into an endless sea, but my advice to all mothers is that the child is a sensitive person with his own personality and being. Create a person who is confident in himself, plant beauty in his heart and mind, talk to him about everything so that he becomes your friend and reveals all his secrets to you, so you will remain the only embrace that provides him with safety and warmth. always .
