City gates

Access to the city of Sur al-Ghazlan is through one of its four gates, which are:

  • Algeria Gate: Located to the north, this gate was built in the mid-nineteenth century.
  • Bou Saada Gate: This gate is located in the south, and this gate was built one year after the construction of the Algeria Gate.
  • Bab Setif: This gate is located to the east, and was built one year after the construction of the Bou Saada gate.
  • Medea's door: It was built in the same year in which the Bou Saada Gate was built.

It is mentioned that the gates of the wall are similar to the gates of the palaces of the kings of the elves and are concentrated in the four sides of the city. They were built of smooth brown stones, which are lined evenly and accurately, and this is the reason for their steadfastness through the ages despite all the storms and wars that swept the city. It is worth mentioning that the number of the four gates has become three. Doors after the demolition of the door of Medea due to the new colonial policy.
